In light of the controversial decision regarding the execution of Troy Davis and that fact we just concluded a poll on capital punishment not that long ago I thought a post on the issue was necessary. The following is a great article that provides real due diligence on the Davis Story, something the mainstream media and sympathizers of murderers, such as Alec Baldwin, have failed to do. The following article from Human Events by Ann Coulter will quickly put to rest any suspicions that Davis might have been judged wrongly or unfairly in his trial and thus sentenced to death by a flawed judicial system. It is imperative certain facts are understood and this article provides them. If you prefer silly rhetoric spewed via Twitter by a biased Hollywood liberal instead of real insight on what actually happened then you can stop reading now.
Two arguments made by Coulter that I found most compelling are the following: “Among the witnesses who did not recant a word of their testimony against Davis were three members of the Air Force, who saw the shooting from their van in the Burger King drive-in lane. The airman who saw events clearly enough to positively identify Davis as the shooter explained on cross-examination, ‘You don’t forget someone that stands over and shoots someone.’” The airman is referring to slain police officer Mark MacPhail.
In addition to the three Air Force members, people who knew Davis personally confirmed him as the shooter: “Several of Davis’ friends testified — without recantation — that he was the one in a white shirt. Several eyewitnesses, both acquaintances and strangers, specifically identified Davis as the one who shot Officer MacPhail.” My friends, this wasn’t a foggy day, in the middle of no where, with one eye-witness who happened to be suffering from cataracts! We’re talking about multiple eye witnesses who all identified the same shooter. Why is this not enough? To discount the testimony of all these people is to call them liars.
